Jobs for a mechanical and production engineering professional
Our employees share their experiences.
At Hefmec since 2018
At Hefmec, we believe that good results are achieved when it’s fun to come to work. We work hard, sometimes no matter what time of day it is. That’s when the office’s light-hearted humour and nice colleagues are a boost. Our colleagues are exceptionally helpful and everyone’s views are respected. We’re pretty much free to come and go as long as we’re accountable and our clients are happy.
At Hefmec since 2018
I started my career at Hefmec in 2018, initially working part-time as a mechanical engineer at the Vantaa office alongside my studies. Later on, I was able to take on responsibility for designing and supplying various tools and working methods. My DI job was also conveniently organised through Hefmec. The topic was chosen for a project for a client, where I was able to deepen my knowledge of machine design, among other things.
At Hefmec from 2021
At Hefmec, every project is different and brings with it something new to learn, as they can be related to almost any industry. Often I am in charge of the project itself from start to finish: from sales to commissioning. This allows me to do things my way, which gives me freedom but also responsibility. The team is made up of people with suitably diverse backgrounds: some are more familiar with the demanding technical details and others with the intricacies of project management.
My working days often start with a cup of coffee, followed by emails and phone conversations with customers and suppliers. Sometimes I develop innovative concepts, sometimes I model parts and draw working drawings. Making strength calculations is also a big part of my job. The best thing about my job is the variety – I can alternate between design, FEM calculations and sales.
Cooperation is an essential part of everyday life. I ask colleagues for advice and try to help them as much as I can. It’s nice to come to the office, where you can talk to your colleagues during the day or concentrate on your own work in peace. Feedback is direct, but always polite and constructive.

We value continuous learning and professional development. We offer training opportunities and support to help you advance your career path. The skills acquired through projects are not always enough, so vocational training is available to reinforce different areas. Our employees have a training balance at their disposal, which they can use to develop their professional skills. Over the years, training has been provided in welding, design, FEM, project management and personnel management. Personal career planning is an integral part of Hefmec’s management. Career development is regularly discussed and training is provided to support the professional growth of the employee.
We have created an inspiring working environment and culture where employees succeed and thrive. For us, a good working atmosphere requires the presence, support and openness of colleagues. Our modern working environment is designed to support every stage of our work. Here you can concentrate on your work, enjoy a cup of coffee in the Hefaistos workshop or spar with colleagues about your project. With us, management is present and approachable. We encourage each other to be open and to interact with all employees. It is important to us that it is easy to approach any colleague, share ideas or ask for help.
Community and well-being are our top priorities. We take care of our employees’ well-being in a variety of ways. We invest in the health and well-being of our employees by providing extended occupational health care. We offer our employees ergonomic working conditions and preventive physiotherapy. We also have a tradition of gathering daily in the Hefaistos tavern for a cup of coffee. The sound of laughter can often be heard in the distance and the brain is refreshed by the counterbalance of demanding specialist work.
We regularly organise recreational days and staff parties where we can play sports, go outdoors, relax and spend time together. These events offer a chance to get away from it all, recharge your batteries and experience something new. The company always takes care of all the arrangements, so you can concentrate on enjoying the event. The “Fords” or Harrison Ford Training is a weekly outdoor training event developed by our staff themselves. The circuit-type class is open to all our employees. In addition, we offer lunch, exercise, wellness and cultural benefits.

Design projects often involve various production tools, such as lifting equipment. We also supply the products we design, so subcontracting and manufacturing quality control diversify the workload. Those who are interested also have the opportunity to work in sales. Customer projects range from one week to a few years.
Our customers buy from us specialised expertise in mechanical and production engineering. They need a good understanding of mechanics, materials and mechanical engineering. Our customers are also very satisfied with the service, communication and organisational skills of our hefmec employees. We offer students and early-career engineers hourly jobs, graduate jobs and junior design and project engineering jobs. You will be given your own project sub-assignments to manage, and you will be able to deepen and apply your technical skills in a wide range of projects.
Professionals already in the workforce will be able to take on larger and more technically demanding tasks. They may become more involved in a particular area of engineering, such as strength calculations or joining techniques.
At Hefmec, you have the opportunity to grow and advance your career to the position of a Principal Designer or Project Manager. Your client projects will be technically demanding and you will be able to manage large projects and apply different technologies. Hefmec’s Principal Designers and Project Managers act as Hefmec’s representatives at the client interface, leading their own project team and acting as a team liaison.
We spend a lot of time in our recruitment process to understand what motivates people, what makes them tick and what makes them thrive, and what kind of working environment they thrive in. By doing this, we have been able to select employees whose future expectations we have been able to meet and who have performed exceptionally well.
